Premium Deluxe
Gallery Halmetoja opens its autumn season with Premium Deluxe, an exhibition by Markus Jäntti. In the horse, Jäntti sees the logos of luxury brands, the racehorse of the racetrack, and the long history of human domestication. The horse enables a shift from the landscape image to cultural systems of meaning, elegance, and the erosion of meaning. The horse is no longer an animal but a sign that carries history, power, and style. Jäntti’s paintings bring together cultural history and the imagery of advertising across different centuries, while remaining firmly rooted in the language of contemporary painting.
Jäntti’s work has been exhibited previously at ARTag Gallery and, in recent years, at Miettinen Collection in Berlin and the Finnish Cultural Institute in Stockholm. Premium Deluxe is Jäntti’s first exhibition at Gallery Halmetoja.
The exhibition has been supported by the Amos Anderson Fond and the City of Espoo.
