Still, Moving
Jaea Chang is a ceramic artist based in Helsinki, originally from South Korea. She focuses on the use of colored clay. The Cut series, initiated in 2019, consists of wall-mounted works that explore composition through layered color structures. In 2024, she began a new sculptural series titled Uri (“we” in Korean), in which compositions of colored clay move into three-dimensional form. Her working process is slow, almost meditative, and the final result is wonderfully beautiful.
Chang’s works have been exhibited in Finland and internationally, and are included in public and private collections, including the collection of the State Art Commission of Finland. Her works were previously shown at Galleria Halmetoja in the summer of 2022.
